Yes they will fit. The seat rails were the same for all year Vanagons. Even some of the really late breadloaf bus (79) has the same seat rail system. The only thing he may run into is that the vans that didn't have arm rest seats had an arm rest screwed to the interior panel of the door. He will need to remove these in order for everything to fit properly. Many folks have done this upgrade, no problem.
