I had forgotten that clay pot trick. Seems like I remember people saying you should heat the pot up in the oven for a while to make sure all the moisture is out of the clay, which might make it expode when it gets on the westy stove. I tried to engineer in my head (which I do all the time) a device that sits on the stove, has a heat exchanger and a fan and exhausts out the sliding window . Something like a zodi hot vent maybe. Never got anything out of my head on that, but I liked the idea that it could be left at home when not needed and only used on the trips that I wasn't at a plug in.
