Hope I don't' get in trouble for NVC, But increasingly the globalization of humans and our affect all on each other can not be denied. Americans are kicking and screaming their way to s l o w l y figuring that out.

'oil' is a global commodity. It's being gulped by the zillions of gallons per minute world wide. There are barely plans in affect to change much, And there are millions of first-time new car owners in the world every day.

If we changed out lifestyle enough ............sure......less commuting , more mass transit, smaller cars...........sure , 'maybe' we could get by on the oil in Alaska and the continental US .........but something tells me that's just not likely at all. Just our military and war efforts uses more oil than that. ( which might be an exaggeration, but not all that untrue either ) .

No matter what it cost on the day the 150 mpg car came out, it would eventually depend on how much oil was left in the ground... and that's the problem. I think with mileage like that we might be energy self-sufficient on our oil, or somewhere close, but that's just a guess. Jim
