Thank you Bryan for acting out and sending your letter out. I will do the same and will be pushing some of my fellow NY campers in the Empire State VW Camping Club to do the same. We all want VW to succeed and all have marketing ideas.

So last Sunday, my cohorts and I went to save a Bay from the crusher. As we were towing it back to my place through the little towns of NY we passed by two teenaged girls walking down the street. When they saw the orange flavored 73 Westy in tow they immediately pointed and smiled waiving at us. We immediately broke out the lines of the Master Card commercial:

Finding a cheap old rusty Westy close by: Craigslist Top Speed of old van in tow: 45 MPH - no seriously 45! Putting $70 in the gas tank of the Land Rover: There is Master Card

Seeing gleeming jeering teen aged girls wave at the old rusty Westy - Priceless!

That is the identity and the next generation. (Ok the movie Little Miss Sunshine helped)

Cheers, Joel in Rochester 89 Syncro Westy 87 Syncro Transporter 73 Westy Campmobile

Agreed. When I used to drive the van as a daily driver in the 90's nobody really paid any attention to it. But these days all the teens and twenty somethings know all about the "Westfalia van" which is what they always refer to it as.
