I am so sick of hearing about the "Carbon Footprint" of everything. Our Vanagons have one. You have one, I have one, everything has one. That is because everything that does anything needs energy to do it. If I was a rock I would have no carbon footprint. But then I would be a rock and I wouldn't care. But I am a human. No matter how many technological advances are made, I am made to intake oxygen and expel carbon dioxide. I hate that this is now classified as a pollutant! It makes me feel like I am some type of interloper on my own planet. If a planet would need to be devoid of life in order to have the smallest "Carbon Footprint" possible then what is the point?

And the people who are so worried about our "Carbon Footprint" fly around the world having conferences and meetings to reduce global warming emissions. They use energy to do this and they chop down trees printing their carbon emission reduction literature to give out at their meetings. I think it is a farce at best, a huge swindle at worst. The amount of carbon dioxide we are talking about is less than a tenth of 1 percent of all of the "carbon emissions" that are being put in the atmosphere. The rest occurs through natural events. Decaying wood in the forests of the world gives off more carbon emissions. Let's stop trees from dying, that will be more effective. I know how to do that, let's make more carbon emissions because that is what trees breathe in (carbon dioxide). So I say who cares what my carbon footprint is. If my electric bill is too high, or my gas bill is too high, or it costs a bunch of money to drive my van, then I will have to cut back on these things and conserve. These are normal market forces and that is the way it should be. Worrying about how much carbon was created by the farmer in New Zealand who grew the apple you are eating as you read this is just plain nuts!

Sorry I just had to blow off some carbon :-) Remember Y2K!

Have a great Friday, Ken Wilford John 3:16 www.vanagain.com
