>> I always hear that "theres no market for it" or "we're catering exclusively to a younger generation now". Well, the generation they'd be catering to grew up as the children of the VW busses. And who's to say there isn't an even younger generation out there..... A generation that never grew up with VW busses.....

Maybe it's time I write them a letter....<<

That was in my letter. I wrote to the CEO of VW after hearing his speech and one of the things he says is (I'm paraphrasing) "Loyal VW owners remember of days gone by camping in their VW buses.". I wrote back saying we are STILL camping in those VW buses and we are duct taping them together to do so. Every kid in their 20's today recognizes my van as a Westfalia. I get compliments all the time when I drive it. If they marketed something inexpensive and showed twentysomething mountain bike riders hauling their bikes up the mountain, riding, eating diner around the campfire THEN poping the top to stay the night I think they'd sell plenty of these things.

I'm not older than my buses but I'm too young to have ever afforded a new VW camper off the lot. When we bought my wife's Jetta back in '92 for $12K there was a burgundy Westfalia for $23K in the showroom. I kept thinking "who can afford this thing?". :-)
