Emissions Question

I just had my '87 Westy SMOG tested in the SF Bay Area (2/23)
As far as I remember, it was the same test procedure & equipment as 2 years ago.
The gas cap was tested off the van using a pressure hose & attachment. There
was no pressure test of the gas tank. The machine used seemed several years old.
This was at a 'SMOG Test Only' center, which they seem to send our old vans to every time now.
Thankfully my Westy PASSED, so I'm good for another 2 years now.
However, the NO level was only just a pass
15mph: NO = 1069 (limit = 1076)
25mph: much better
HC, CO2 etc. were all well within limits at both speeds.
++++++ Does anyone know what the high NO value means? ++++++
(I asked at Volks Cafe in Santa Cruz, where I was getting some work done, but they
didn't know, as apparently NO is not part of the emissions test over on the coast).
I replaced the complete exhaust system just last summer (including new O2 sensor).
BTW - I can certainly recommend Peter @ Volks Cafe (Santa Cruz, CA) for their excellent work!
Mike,
'87 Westy

Subject: Calif 2008 emissions fuel tank pressure testing?
I may be late to the game on this, but don't recall anyone writing about
it. I just read on GoWesty's site that "Starting in 2008 in California ...
a new law now requires that [t]he fuel tank vapor control system pass a
pressure test as part of the regular smog test."*
So, California Vanagon owners: anyone here on the list had any experience
getting smogged in 2008? They pump your fuel tank up and did you pass or
fail miserably (as I expect my '84 will)?
