Hi,

Nice to see your thoughts.

It does seem that is 'so amercian' to want/get/have things that are BIG BIG BIG.

15K sounds rather low to me for a used Sprinter, but I don't' follow that market so maybe they are that inexpensive used and half decent, but I so far don't want anything that big and tall.

You know - it's so nice you can push start a vanagon if you have to, or tow it with a car, or get into tighter places. Everything doesn't have to be HUGE to be good.

And I can't imagine that parts are cheap on those Sprinters.

And I do accept that they are the 'new' vanagon, but there is so much life and usefulness yet in our beloved vanagons, and many great things about them.

A vanagon fits in a car garage after all, kinda handy that way.

Though my new big interest is in high top adventurewagons and they'll be more outdoors except for real shops and larger garages, and other than the horribly cramped interior layout, those are great machines.

Scott

I dont know what ken thinks but that 1.9 TD is a thing

of beauty, untill you look at the price and i doubt

the seven grand (shipped) is all you will be spending.

I wouldnt dare run a TD with a stock 4speed on the

highway, so ad on another $3500 for Tiico 5-speed

gearbox, now we are approaching 10 grand. If you had 5

grand in your van before buying this diesel motor the

total investment would be around $15,000. Thats all to

close to the cost of a used Dodge/Mercedes Sprinter

which will outperform the converted vanagon on all

fronts except looks.......sorry Peter, I think ill

save my money for one of those.
