Bryan,

The flanges on your exhaust manifolds are no longer flat. This is a fairly common problem with the Vanagon exhausts. You have two choices: take off the exhaust a sand/grind them flat and true; or replace the manifolds.

I suppose you could try filling to gap with muffler putty voodoo stuff, but I doubt it would last very long.

Cheers,

OK, I've swapped out the AFM with another used one that I had. I cleaned it up first. I cleaned out the TBH. I replaced all the vacuum lines and cleaned up all the connections I could. I then ran the exhaust check. No need to blow smoke into the ehaust via the vacuum cleaner method, I could feel the air coming out of the joint. I tried to replace both gaskets but the gap is still there at the connection. See http://tinyurl.com/yw6pnx and you will see what I mean. I can't get that gap to close. What should I do?

Thanks, Bryan
