Thanks. I ordered a new pipe from BD about 5 minutes ago. Putting that pipe in will be a job for my mechanic. I'm classic for stripping head bolts.

If you choose to level the surfaces, consider using a file to level the part(s) in question. Slower going, but the file provides a flat surface if used correctly.

It may be that wrapping emery **cloth** (80 grit or less) around the file would suffice to take high areas down.
