People should always be aware that the use of silicone sealants where an oxygen sensor is involved is a big no-no.

It the product says 'oxygen sensor safe' on it, it's probably ok then.

If do fine with gasket-to-metal, but flanges must be flat and very parallel to the port surface, even if it means heating and slightly bending the exahsut pipe, tho I've barely ever done that.

But mostly, the flange-to-exhaust-port relationship has to be pretty right, anything else may work for a while, but is more a temporary fix.

Exhaust leaks at the exhaust ports contribute to burning exhaust valves, so if there are leaks, it's more than just something noisy, it contributes to wear on other places too.

I've had several requests for information on exhaust gasket sealer. I

use it as a gasket dressing and not as a "Replacement" for gaskets.

Permatex Ultra Copper RTV Silicone Gasket:

There are other brands, too, and one calls their product "Mega Copper" RTV.

Of course, you first want to file the mating surfaces flat if necessary.
