Thanks Ben. Good info.

I've done several conversions here at the shop, but never a Subie so it's good to have an idea 'what it takes'. Sounds like the harness is the biggest time hog and it may be worthwhile to use one of the Subie harness gurus to save some time.

Perhaps one of these days I'll do a Subie conversion, although, I can't see where I would find the time...

Cheers,

Jeff

Hi Jeff. Good question!

I will tell you how much time it take me, so i guess you can multiply by 5 to 10 for any normal weekend mechanic.

-Engine removal/van prep (86 +) = 2-3 hours (well, ok, that is all i do since 4 years). http://www.benplace.com/fabian/fabian14.jpg

-Engine assembly (considering i am not changing the head gasket)= 1 easy day. http://www.benplace.com/subaru25/sub_ej25_2007a.jpg

-Harness = 2 days

-installation = 1 day (not even)

-Testing = .5 day.

So i would say that part time, i guy should take about a month. All weekend + a dew night per week.

I think that make sense.

Ben
