Jim,
It probably is an Engle or WebCam. I used to put a lot of them in the
motors I built back in the day.
Cheers,
Jeff

From my experience, I'd probably go with an Engle W-100 Camshaft. It's
the mildest performance grind that's best for all around street use. I've
used that on a 1600 Dual Port in a 69 Bus and the W-110 for the 2180 I ran
around in a Bug for 10 years way back in the day.
Specs:
W-100 Lift (1.1 Rocker) .420", Duration 276, Cam Lift .383", Dur @ .050
236, Lobe Cent. 108
W-110 Lift (1.1 Rocker) .430", Duration 284, Cam Lift .392", Dur @ .050
247, Lobe Cent. 108

Thanks Greg.
That's pretty much what I put in an earlier posting: first oil change
and
valve check at 500 miles, after that 3,000 for oil changes and valve
adjustments. The only PITA is having to remove the splash guards every
time
the valves are checked.
As for 33 valve adjustments in 100k miles... not my problem as my Father
does his own maintenance ;-) MWUHAHAHA
No idea on the cam grind. It's one of those parts that's been sitting
on
the shelf for 5+ years (more like 10 I bet). Didn't even have the box
anymore. I'm guessing it was a mild performance grind since it idles
smoothly and I can't remember buying any aggressive grinds that I didn't
use
already.
Cheers,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
I'd suggest that valve adjustment should be the same interval as on
aircooled engines; 3,000 miles/5,000KM. But you may only need to inspect
them, as the watercooled heads are probably less prone to valves
stretching and seats dropping.
How long will it last depends on how good the parts were. But if it goes
100,000 miles you're gonna wind up under it 33 times inspecting the
valves.
Any idea what the grind on that cam was?
