Bill,

Not sure if you saw but this is a Syncro and the ones that I have seen all have this vent hose in the frame. The gas smell is from the rear passenger side near the filler tube area. It sounds like a gas tank RR job just to be on the safe side, lots of fun!

My '84 vents to the air cleaner, as shown in the Bentley.

Fumes from the un-connected vent hose?
