Hi Stephen.

I did something similar

http://web.mac.com/tubaneil/iWeb/Site%205/AWNING.html

I've made some changes to it since then.

One thing I found handy was to make the piece that goes in the jack point, a "twist and lock" type. I cut an "L" gap in the pipe so when you insert it, you twist it and the bottom of the "L" locks into a tang (tongue) that hangs down at back of jack hole. One other advantage with mine, is that if you slide the poles up through the jack piece, you can fine tune the height. I plan on making some kind of key to keep the poles from sliding through hole, though I found that if i spread the upright poles (the PVC "T" slides easily) the tension created seemed to hole the poles from sliding. I'm pretty sure that if I put bungees on the "T's" that pulled them to the outside, this would help.

If you're interested in some pics of the "twist and slide" part, I can go outside and grab a shot.

Cheers,

Neil.
