No, my first post was confusing. I was mainly the support guy running around starting the van, unplugging the temp2 sender, etc, not the guy actually doing the job. I'm new to this and learning as I go. We did advance it a bit to get the U notch to line up with the case. Had we turned it further, the V notch would have lined up. The engine was definetly retarded. Although it runs better now, I need to go back and set it to the 5° V notch. For some reason I had it all messed up in my head. I've got it figured out now. Thanks.

It appears to have had the opposite affect in your case. Maybe the valve adjustments need checking. Just spit balling here.
