Subject: alternator rear bearing replacement
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

My alternator needs a new rear bearing, but otherwise seems to be working just fine. Being both a cheapskate and a sufferer from an exaggerated sense of my own mechanical abilities, I'm thinking of doing this bearing replacement myself, instead of buying a new or rebuilt one. Is this a bad idea? If not, any helpful tips or web links for me? I already found the following link, which makes it look not so hard: http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdetails/electrical/boschaltrepair.htm Thanks.
