The circuit breaker advice is probably good, but there is a pretty decent
factor of safety built into the wire gauge.
I seriously doubt a fire will result from bumping the breaker up by 10 amps.
That being said, I certainly don't recommend doing this if for no other
reason than repercussion from the litigious society which we live.

Sometimes I put things in like that just to see if anyone is paying

This is now NVC, but I gotta say.
You replaced a 20A household breaker with a 30A? Well, if you suddenly
smell wood smoke while you're welding, just know that if the blaze was
started by that circuit overheating, your home's fire insurance is
worthless.
If you already know this, then forge ahead! Have at it! But forewarned is
forearmed.
