Hi,
Hard to get exactly what you have going on.
Is the mount being loaded right in the center, on the upper stud ?
Looks to me like you are loading in on a top edge - hard to tell in your
pics.
But this mount is designed to take the load on the top stud, in a vertical
axis. The vertical axis of the load should be right down the center of the
mount.........in line with the top and bottom studs on it.
A little tilt is all right, especially toward the supported sides, and not
toward the 'open' ends.
I have used this exact mount, or one identical in appearance and shape/size
from a Quantum 1.6 TD engine on the left side of a 1.6TD at 50 degrees ,and
many thousands of trouble free miles.
If you are loading it properly, vertically down through the
center......things should be fine.
If you are loading it in a way it's not designed for.........well, I am
often appalled by the weird stuff back yard mechanics 'make up.' - like
using parts in ways they were never intended or designed for.
Most of the amateur engine conversion work I see is VERY hack work,
And some of the professional work too.
Do elegant engineering, which I believe is definitely your intention
Neil.

Hi all.
What would a day be like without me asking these "one of a kind"
questions? --- ;^)
Should the top half of this Fox engine mount shift this much under
weight of engine?
http://tubaneil.googlepages.com/tempfoxmountpics
This is on my 15 degree Jetta engine install.
I think I measured the position of the mounts incorrectly. I "leveled"
the engine, then made marks for mount bolts onto carrier. When engine
supported by carrier, the mount looks like it's shifting and engine is
no longer "level".
I'm mentally challenged right now so opinions regarding mount shift
shown in the pics, would help right now.
Seems to me that if positioned correctly on the carrier, then when
weight of engine is on them, it should compress the mounts toward the
carrier, but not shift like that.
Loosing my mind.... ;^)
Neil.
