I know of several shops that have charged like 10 hrs do do a syncro clutch job. They figue that if the customer bites on it, they can make money if things are corroded and a pita...Otherwise let someone else do the job and break even on it. The flat rate books do not figure in corrosion and stripped cv bolts and the like. So its just a guide for a newer vehicle type job without tasking into consideration of anything else.
