Well IMHO, that's how they think when they have time to "sit on" their "gold mine". They'll wait it out and stick to their guns. It's a free world I guess. Shame he wasted your time.

Plus here's the rub. (no news to most listers and not really related to the Vanagon Craig looked at)

Seller: "it's worth that much in parts"

Buyer: "Ok, you pull the parts, clean and inspect them, then I'll inspect them again, and if I like them, I'll buy the parts at an appropriate fraction of your asking price"

Seller: "well it's my time to pull the parts...."

Suddenly they understand. Almost. $800 Vanagon? Well what does an auto (working) tranny cost now?
