You should go back and get the whole emergency brake handle assembly. It will bolt right on to any earlier Vanagon and makes the brake MUCH better. More leverage, more clinks in the same arc, more comfortable in your hand. I would do this to any pre-86 that has the primitive early lever. Later 85s have the new part as well. Mark
