Hi Everyone, I'd like to apologize for my "wallace" response last week and offer an explanation. I followed the instructions to unsubscribe from the list and received confirmation from the server (see below) that I was unsubscribed before turning on my out of office notice. I regret any inconvenience.

Since my Vanagon experience pales in comparison to the majority of contributors on this list I would like to add my sincerest appreciation for the collective wisdom (and occasional jokes) that this list provides. This list has been a huge resource for me in guiding my thoughts and decisions on how to create a strong reliable vehicle capable of taking my family anywhere we want to go.

Vanagon Bio: - 1989 GL Westfalia (Wolfram Gray) - Purchased from original owner in September 2003 with 96.6k miles - Subaru conversion installed by Randy's Foreign (San Diego) in May 2007 at 115k miles (donor car for the wiring harness, replaced cooling hoses to radiator with steel pipes) - Aftermarket cruise control - 16 x 7.5 inch wheels from GoWesty - Michelin HydroEdges 215/60-16 - Transmission - stock R&P, 1st and 2nd gears; taller 3rd (1.14) and 4th (.77) gears - After 15.6k miles since conversion MPG is approx. 18 (80% freeway) cruising at 75 mph

Next steps: - Installation of stronger springs to solve front wheel clearance issue and further improve handling - Stronger front disc brakes and the addition of rear disc brakes

Future plans: - Propex heater - Vitrifrigo refrigerator

Thanks,
