I know of a guy, who had an '84, that put an early style bra on the front that covered the lower grille and it caused an overheating problem. A problem he never had without the bra. Some have "Thought" that, because some air cooled vans that had air conditioning and had the lower grille for that reason, the lower grille was only needed for air conditioning.
