Hello All.......

We bought our '87 Westy about four years ago for $6,000. She was in really good shape except for some utility port rust.

I work full time, we are remodeling our house and I have a hobby (succulent plants) which takes up most of my time.

Go Westy is about twenty miles from my house. In the last four years I've taken her there for fuel line replacement, radiator flush and coolant system hose replacement, drive belts replacement and AC system re-charge. I think three visits to Go Westy total. Each time I would also ask them to give her a general go over and recommend necessary overlooked maintenance - they have never come up with anything added above what I took her in for in the first place.

They are not cheap but I feel comfortable with their work.

Since we got the Westy we have driven from Central California to the tip of Baja and back, a tour of Western America (California, Arizona, Utah.......), a dozen camping trips to Big Sur, Santa Cruz......, one trip to Burning Man along with some general use as a pick-up truck to Home Depot and other places around town. Our last was an 800 mile four day trip to Fort Ross and back on Highway 1 - pure pleasure.

The Girl (our Westy) has never let us down. She has started every time and completed every trip asked of her. Twice she exhibited "Vanagon Syndrome" in the first year of ownership but that has not re-occurred since (I have the capacitor but have never installed it). We've always made it home with a smile on our face and a pat on the dashboard.

I like Go Westy. What are we doing wrong?
