Actually the more common thread pitch on M8 threaded bolts and nuts for DIN (European) standards is 1.25, with 1.0 coarser threaded being used for like say, the 8mm valve adjuster screws and jamnuts on the Type 1 & 2 1600 engines. A lot of Asian vehicles tend to use finer 1.5 thread pitch on their 8mm metric fasteners, at least they did my Ex-Toyopet & H*nda. This is also known as JIS Standard as opposed to DIN Standard. 18mm on European vehicles is usually 1.5 thread pitch, such as the O2 sensor.

As to answer Joe's question, the "Time Box" is threaded on both sides. The push-in clip is only done at the speedo end of the cable from 82 onwards AFAIK. -- Jim Thompson 84 GL 1.9 "Gloria" 84 Westfalia 2.1 "Ole Putt" 73 K Ghia Coupe "Denise" 72 411 Station Wagon "Pug" oldvolkshome@gmail.com http://www.oldvolkshome.com *********************************** On Thu, Apr 3, 2008 at 2:28 PM, Roger Sisler <rogersisler2000@yahoo.com> wrote:
