If it is NOT the Westfalia AC outlet, then it's possible it's a mod done by PO.

A multimeter (VOM) is a good investment. If you get a less expensive analogue one, it'll "pay for itself" in just one use. i.e. you could use it to measure whats coming out of this outlet, and when. Test if switch working or not.

Can you imagine what the automotive electrical specialist would charge to do that? --- ;^)

A Bentley is really handy too. :^)
