In all honesty (this time,) falling short of bankrupting the family, a guy
has to have a hobby, right? This hobby may or may not include her, etc. I
love doing things with my wife, after all she is my best friend, but, if
there is something I love that she does not, I am happy to call it my own.
Rafting, for example, she doesn't really like the big water, so that is my
thing. I guess what I'm saying here is that you don't both have to like the
same things and do everything together (hey, I'm being sensitive here.) On
the vanagon thing, specifically, our major point of contention is 'how many'
vans I get to have. I agree with Bryan, that if all you have is a GL, and
you can only have one, you should sell it and get a camper. As for me, I
have to have my beautiful Syncro camper that gets all the treats, my beater
Syncro that can go where my lovely bride assures me (with hands clasped to
her face) it cannot, and a third, 2wd GL for daily driving.......oh and
there's the parts vehiles to support these three.
On a more serious note, it is not just about the van, it is about the
community that goes with it! It is a way of life for many of us.
