I really advocate carrying JB weld or a bonding product like it. One that sets up fast. I hit a rock, and got a leak in my 2.2 oil pan, ( before I installed a shortened one. )

I've always had good luck with JB Weld as well, and am a big believer in it. But your story reminds me of a posting I saw years ago where a guy said JB Weld was crap. He was out in the middle of no where (Baja, IIRC) and got a whole in his pan. Fixed it with JB Weld and got home, but 5,000 miles later the repair failed, so in his opinion the stuff is crap. I had to laugh at that, I don't think he "got it" Jeff
