Haven't heard anything specific about using EMT...

but as far as using JB to make a lip - I've seen a lot of posts where this worked very well for them.

I have a couple of sections in my coolant routing where the PO used copper without a lip, and even with double bands, I occasionally found slight seeps. I'm about to fix those using a JB bead as well.

I hear you want to make a nice line using two pieces of tape, score it well in between so the JB has something to hold on to, put the JB on and let it skin up (it self settles) then take off the tape and let it sit. I haven't tried it yet, so if you get to it first, let me know if these directions work! ;)
