Got my current syncro last fall and am now just getting to fix all the little things.

The previous owner swears up and down the rear locker engages but was unsure why the switch light never came on. He stated he knew the locker worked as when he had the prop shaft out when I got the van and he could get up hill on his farm with the rear locker engaged that he couldn't when in 1 wheel drive mode.

So today I decided to pull the switch panel and check out the light assembly before crawling underneath the transaxle to check the condition of the locker.

We'll what an interesting mess I did find, see the photo at this link:

There was no light bulb, no light socket nor anything that looked like the obvious wiring, so I need your input to point me the correct direction.

First there are three sets of wires that are candidates for the solution.

1. Two brown (grounds?) hanging with the spade connections 2. A 3 wire connector 3. A larger white multi connector

My guess is with the 3 wire connector as it would solve the need for eurospec models with 2 and/or 3 lockers to engage.

1. What wires will solve my need 2. What do I need socket/bulb wise to get this working? Is this a standard Vanagon mini-bulb that fits into the panel?

Additionally, since we are on the topic there is a gold bracket that is just hanging lose inside the assembly and it's not apparent to me what it supports. It's loosely attached low and to the center inside the hole but what it supports above I do not know. Ideas?

Thanks.

Shawn
