Don't use expanding foam on any vehicle that you care about.  It soaks water
l(rain, humidity or exhaled air)like a sponge (as does fiberglass isulation
batts), and won't let go.  It keeps the panels constantly wet and WILL rot
your vehicle from the inside out.

I believe you questions were answered several times over, I followed the
thread and read all the replies to it.  Did you somehow miss something?  The
holes on the bottom of the tailgate are water drains, don't block them off,
make sure they're clear.  If you seal them off, you make things worse, not
better.

OK, that's the last time I say nice things about The List.  :-)
Apparently everyone was so busy patting themselves on the back after my
affirmation of their collective wisdom the other day, that nobody made
it to my questions!



Here they are again:



1)         Where does the exhaust air go from the vents on the lower
back corner of the front doors in a 1983 V'gon? The vents simply open
into the cavity of the doors behind the fibre board panel. No outlet. No
access to the duct (aka umbrella holder) that goes from the dash to the
door column when the door is closed. I am tempted to seal them off with
insulation.

2)         Do the holes along the bottom of the rear hatch serve any
venting or draining purpose? Or can I fill them with Great Stuff as part
of my noise insulation project?
