You don't want to re-use the bolts. They are P.C. 12.9 fasteners and they need to be torqued to 32 ft. lbs.

Just a follow up on last night's question about CV Joint removal on my 85. I'm happy to be able to say my engine+transmission are out of the van. The CV joints were a challenge. I purchased two new 6mm Allen key socket tools, ground the end of one to remove any radius at the tip and went to work. The tool slipped in the first two bolts! Next came the bolt out. I had gone to Sears to buy a set of their impact bolt outs as suggested by Mike Collum but alas they did not have stock. I had a set of wrench driven bolt outs and used a socket and extension and hammer to set the bolt out, then a ratchet to break the CV bolt loose. Finally an electric impact and socket to spin the bolt out. The bolt out made minor marking on the outside of socket head cap screws, I am sure that I will be able to reuse them if I wish. The bolt out made the work easy, I never bothered with the Allen wrench again.

Two things. I have an automotive hoist in my shop. I was able to stand while working on these devils. I have ultimate respect for anyone working on their back off a creeper.

Most important is the wonderful response that I got WITHIN MINUTES from Mike, Neil and Daryl. This list is so great! Thanks guys.

Ian
