Subject: The Metric Dollar - LVC
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

So, I'm sitting here at my desk getting all depressed because I have to send a bunch of money over to the Fatherland to pay for Vanagon parts, vehicles, etc., when I realized that we now have a metric dollar:

1 mile = .62'ish kilometers

1 dollar = .63'ish euros

Damn! If we would've just stayed the course back in the '70s and switched to the metric system, the exchange rate would be 1 to 1...

Unfortunately, just like nobody else in the world wants to measure something in 64ths of an inch, nobody wants any SAE dollars. Unless they're visiting Disneyland.

It's amazing how much more Vanagon parts are costing these days. The price stays the same when I get a quote from my vendors in Germany, but by the time it arrives on our shores, it costs 5% or 10% more than last time.

At this rate, we'll become a manufacturing economy again, except the companies will be owned by China and everything will get exported to some country who's money is worth a damn.

Okay... I'm done ranting. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Happy, happy, joy, joy,

Jeff
