John, start out with the easy stuff......you know, the stuff that
makes you smack your forehead and cry, 'doh!'
Remove and clean all grounds in engine compartment. Check your spark
plugs. Ck vaccum lines. Disconnect all electrical connectors in engine
compartment and clean with non-flammable electrical cleaner and
reconnect. Ck air filter......there could be a little nest in here,
even if this is not causing the current problem.......and change the
fuel filter!
Then you can move on to things like the Throttle Switch and Bentley
troubleshooting.
BTW Why would you ever put it in fourth gear when you're only doing
35mph? Even 45mph in fourth gear could be considered lugging the
engine in most cases..........
