You are misreading the diagram slightly. VW built the same relay panels to be used in more than one configuration. The relay socket is #3, since 3 is inside the dark box that labels it. The socket has 6 pins but the relay in that diagram is only using 3 of them. Pins 4,5,6 are used while socket pins 1,2,3 are provided for another application but nothing connects to them in this case.

The other numbers, like 30, 85, 86, 87, etc are relay pin numbers so 5/87 says "socket pin 5 ,relay pin 87".
