With John Rodgers' permission I have placed his Message To Newbies post on
the vanagon wiki. I know that others have suggested some more items on the
subject, and they should be added. I'll leave that up to those with useful
stuff to do, just go to

log in/create account (upper right corner of the screen) and add Edit the
page as needed.
