I think the pick ups have different gears than the vans, especially with a tow package. The E-150 with the 4.5 gets about 17 on the highway, same as a Syncro. My mom has an E-250 extended (12 passenger) with the 5.4. I drove it a bunch last February. It also did 16-17 and I wasn't babying it.
