What year and model is your Vanagon? Vanagons have an automatic shutoff for the AC compressor whenever the radiator gets too hot. It is meant to protect the engine from overheating. There is a single wire you could cut to prevent the hot radiator from triggering the shutoff but it is probably a bad idea. It is quite possible something is wrong in the cooling system to cause the high radiator temps. If the lower speed(s) of the radiator fan is not working for example. Mark
