If you are driving SLOWLY in snow/ice, and lose stopping control of
your automatic transmission vehicle, jam it into reverse then hit the
gas.

This has saved me from sliding into another car, and the transmission
was fine afterwards.

Works with any AT vehicle.  Not something you should do often, but
keep this info in the back of your head, it may save you some wintery
day...
