I have a Winnebago LeSharo with a Buick 3.8 in it.  The Buick is put together with all the drive gear on a subframe.
The person who did this conversion put the whole subframe in.  So, it has all Buick, trans, axles, brakes, steering, AC
and so on.  It averages mid 19's and has gone over 20 mpg on occasion (when I don't have my foot in it, which is a lot
of fun).  I would imagine it would easily push into the mid 20's in a Vanagon.  And boy would it go... the LeSharo
itself is pretty impressive.  I wonder if somehow the whole subframe could be put under a Vanagon...I'd worry about
hooking this up to a VW transmission.

If there's so many of the GM< 3800 Series II around, maybe they could be
used to kill the Subie Vultures that are circling my house and the 83 Van.
I know front a streetrod point of view, I've heard they're good engines.
Sure beats the price for a Subie.
