I had a 3.4l chevy v6 in my vanagon for about 9 years ('98 - '07)
(sold the van with the conversion intact). The current owner has
converted it from carb to megasquirt fuel injection, and tells me it
gets mid 20s on the highway.
I was running it more for drag racing fun(500cfm edelbrock carb, on a
performer intake, etc.), so I only got around 10mpg, but it sure was
fun pegging the speedometer at every straightaway. :D
Outside of 8 busted transmissions and countless clutches, it was a
blast to drive. :)
I drove it from MD to MI and back, for college every quarter, and it
made the journey without a fuss.
