Replacing it yourself is certainly doable. I replaced the MC on my '84 7 passenger shortly after I got it back in '91 ... with no advice and no Bentley at the time.

The trick is to remove as much brake fluid as you can from the reservoir (wife's best turkey baster?) and put a bunch of rags below the fittings so drips don't become a problem.
