Yeah, that place has changed a LOT since I lived there (74-75 and again in
80). I lived in a rented Airstream that was a stones throw from the
Deschutes river. Used to fish and watch the beavers do their thing. Now it's
a suburban-looking housing development. Downtown Bend was funky and there
was no sprawl or traffic. Makes me sad to see how over-developed it has
become. On the flip side, it still only takes a few minutes to get into the
boonies with the Westy to do a little camping.
