Not everyone out there is looking to scam someone... He said he got it from his grandfather, i.e. he may not be a true VW fan and therefore not understand the value of what he has. He probably didn't look online before posting his ad to see what other buses are selling for, or felt that with the problems it was worth as much as someone else's rust bucket "project" bus. He did state that the horn and gas gauge don't work and that, added with a lack of an actual rear seat, probably led him to decide to lower the price. It is entirely possible that he is trying to be "fair" and not over charge people for something he considers defective. As for the non-reply: I have also had problems getting replies on craigslist when the only listed contact is the craigslist address for that ad. He may also not be in a hurry to sell it and only checks his email once every week. Be persistent and don't give up if it is something you really want! Peter PS the ads that really bother me are the ones where people try to sell their van for $14,000 and don't put up pictures or much of a description! Grrrr! |
