I sometimes have difficulty downshifting from 3rd to 2nd. It seems difficult to get into 2nd in this direction and I get a gear grinding sound . This seems to be worse when you really need it (ie going up a steep hill) and when the engine/transmission is hot. It does not seem to matter on how fast I try to shift, pausing at neutral does not help much. Other shifting seems OK (perhaps a little stiff getting into 1st when the engine is cold) The transmission was locally rebuilt about 15k miles ago (18 months), so is outside any warrantee...[not sure what kind of rebuild was done]. Any ideas on what the problem is and what to do about it? Thanks, Mike, '87 Westy (2.1 stock engine; 4 speed) ____________________________________________________________________________________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
