Wow, theft - - the last word in art appreciation! That's the only way you can look at it and not be totally bummed!

But, yes, I totally agree, some kind of a die-cast badge or whatever could be a fun piece, but certainly cast silver or stainless steel (which can be investment-cast) would be cost-prohibitive. The regular badges on the back of our Vanagons are either die-cast or aluminum - - easy and cheap (relatively speaking) to cast, not too bad-looking if you've got a good design. Another alternative is to fabricate the design out of copper (or silver) sheet and enamel it, I'll bet there are several people on the list with that capability.
