My fridge normally gets very cold and will even freeze up around the ice cube tray. However, on hot summer days, the fan will run constantly trying to cool the fins to the cut off temperature. My intent is to help the fins dissipate heat faster with a greater air flow and thus help the fridge stay cool on hot days. Is my logic flawed? I don't want to go to a lot of work for nothing.

Harold, I have installed a 4" ~ 5" computer muffin fan in the place of the City Water Outlet on my van and it helps tremendously in keeping the fridge running in hot weather. The City water outlet is pretty much right where the highest concentration of heat is behind the fridge. I have done this mod to many of my customers vans and all report improved functioning of their fridges. What I did was to cut the back off of the City Water Outlet then mount the muffin fan to the back of the housing. How I mount the fan depends on the size and configuration of the fan. Some I have glued some I was able to use two of the City Water Outlet's mounting screws, diagonally opposed. Then I either wire it up to a switch on the sink front next to the LED panel or mount a micro switch on the City Water Outlet so that when the door is opened the fan come on. The door is held open with a popcicle stick. Power for this fan is picked up at the LED sink front panel. One thing to note is that I may not be good to run this fan consistently as there is a possibility of cooling the fins at the rear of the fridge too much. So then I was then thinking to connect that fan to the thermocouple switch at the rear of the fridge. Jury is still out on this idea.

Cheers,
