Only diesel guys would ask this since gassers already have a battery under the pass side front seat. Using the driver's side on a 82/83 diesel puts it where the existing wiring for the Westy kitchen is easier to connect to the aux battery. Putting it on the pass side puts the weight opposite the already heavier left side rather than adding to the heavier side. Not much difference overall.
