                    Andrew,  under some circumstance the spacer wears at the
ends and becomes shorter.   Like I said, the length is critical, so if it is
not the length of a new one,  which I have with the listing for that part on my
_Vanagon Items Forsale_ (http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/sales.htm)   webpage.
That's why I posted the listing of the spacer with my message to  the List
this morning, so all could know what the length of a new one is.   This critical
dimension is not in the Bentley Bible !!
